Birth, marriage and personal document apostilles

Delaware-issued certificates and personal papers, authenticated for use abroad. We are minutes from the Vital Statistics counter that issues them and the Division that authenticates them.

What we handle

  • Birth certificates. Certified copies issued by the Delaware Office of Vital Statistics. The commonly photocopied hospital souvenir certificate is not acceptable.
  • Marriage and death certificates. Certified Delaware records, for spousal visas, estate matters and dual citizenship.
  • Single status affidavits. Sworn before our notary, then authenticated. Frequently required to marry abroad.
  • Powers of attorney. Notarised first, because the apostille authenticates the notary signature rather than the content.
  • Adoption paperwork. Often a bundle of several documents, which is where the additional-document rate matters.

If you do not have the certificate yet

A Delaware birth certificate is issued by the Office of Vital Statistics at 417 Federal Street in Dover, a few hundred yards from the office that will apostille it. A certified copy costs $25 from the state and the current published processing time is two to five weeks.

You have two options. Bring us a certified copy you already hold and we apostille it at the standard rate. Or we retrieve it for you at $185, which covers the state certificate fee, the retrieval and the apostille. Choose the second only if you are not against a deadline, because the wait is the state’s, not ours.
